You're expecting, now it's time to plan for your newborns photo session.

When's the best time to book a session? In your second trimester! What if life got busy and you missed that window? Contact me anyway. I may still have availability, or I may can work you in. You can contact me here to reserve your session. Reserving your session means completing a contract and paying a retainer invoice. Once that's complete, you are on the books.

Once I have your session on my calendar, what's next? I'll send you a prep guide with all the details of what to bring. We'll discuss any colors you want, if there will be siblings, any props or poses you love. I customize each session to the parents wants. If you have no idea, don't worry. That's when I can get creative.

What if baby comes early? Message me and we will decide if we need to change the date of your session. The goal is to photograph baby between 5-14 days.

You can imagine newborn sessions take some time. Sessions take 2-3 hours, depending on if family shots are taken. Sometimes babies need to take a break, drink some milk, or change a diaper. No worries, I never rush a session. My goal is to get the images you will be proud to hang in your home. I take my cues from baby. Not all babies are comfortable in all poses. If baby isn't happy, we move on and try something else.

Sibling poses are adorable, but not all siblings are comfortable in front of the camera. Bring something to keep them occupied, snacks if they get hungry, a favorite toy. With young children, I like to take family shots first. It's great if dad or a grandparent can take the little ones out for a special treat and let mom stay while I finish take photos of baby. This releases the stress off most new moms, and let's face it, the less stress mom has the better!

What to wear for family pictures? Coordinating colors. Think neutrals, creams, blues. The less pattern the better. If you don't have time to put on your makeup before you leave the house, bring a bag with you do it when you arrive. I want you to enjoy the process! If you're still not comfortable in your pre-pregnancy clothes, bring a maternity top, or you can always try on something from my client closet. This is such a special time in your lives, destress for a few hours, watch your beautiful baby get some amazing pictures.
